Grow the Leader in You : Leading Self, 15-16 February,
It is vital that business owners and leaders pause and take time out to invest in themselves and their leadership. Do a stock-take on your leadership: the leader you are now and the leader you want to be next. From our experience this is a good time to get clear on the difference between management and leadership. Given the way you work in a typical day, what do you notice? Learn how a leader’s mindset shapes a leader’s style, company culture and outcomes. Learn common traps leaders, teams and organisations can fall into, what those might be for you and how they might be reducing your effectiveness as a leader and impacting your business. Together, we will notice when and where these traps may show up in us so that we can catch ourselves sooner when our default ways of thinking and acting are not fit for purpose for the situation we are managing. We’ll also take time to honour the ‘problem solver’ in us, and notice what it means when there are some problems that just never seem to go away – these are ‘polarities to be managed’, ‘tugs of war’, or tensions in your personal leadership and in your business. Learn a practical framework for moving from an ‘either or’ mindset to a ‘both and’ to lead more effectively in complexity and to see more choices for action and better use of your limited time and resources. Apply what you are learning to real challenges in your business by working in small groups with your peers during the workshop.
Grow Engagement : Using Conflict and Disagreement to Develop, 14-15 March,
Conflict and disagreement are signs that people are engaged and care about the work and the working relationship. And yet in the moment it can be hard to see that! Not to mention that the people in your business today are more diverse with different perspectives than our own, and that can also be challenging! What shifts are leaders today needing to make in order to engage more fully? Leaders all talk about wanting a higher level of engagement with their people. In this workshop we’ll slow down and take a look at generational shifts, diversity and inclusion, and what that really means to us at it relates to our leadership and our people. How do we reframe conflict and difficult conversations not as things to be ‘solved’ but as opportunities to develop yourself, your people, and grow your business? We will explore the neuroscience behind our reactive tendencies in dealing with conflict, “difficult” people and “difficult” conversations. Learn, experience and build your engagement and communication skills toolkit that supports higher and more purposeful engagement. Work with your current challenges using these new practices. Connect with other SME leaders in a supportive network.
Grow Your Impact : Leader as Coach,16-17 May
The Leader as Coach workshop is designed to help business leaders develop the skills and mindset necessary to coach their team members to achieve their full potential. Coaching is a powerful tool for developing people, improving performance, and building a more engaged and productive workforce. Over the two days we will cover what ‘leader as coach’ means and why is it important for leaders. You will learn and practice a proven model you can immediately begin to use. This can be used for performance improvement, development, and career growth. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced coaches and practice their new skills with their peers in a safe and supportive environment.
Grow Together : Leading in Continuous Change,13-14 June
The new normal of the world we live in requires us to be able to pay attention to what’s happening in the market and to shift gears because conditions are ever changing. How do we do that in practice? What does that require of us as leaders? We’ll draw on the work of Cultivating Leadership colleagues Leanne Holdsworth and Naryan Wong’s new book “Human Work” , Dr. Amy Edmonson on the power of creating psychologically safe workplaces, and Dr. Brené Brown’s work on the skillsets of Courageous Leadership, to uncover cutting edge learning and practices to lead, love, learn and grow in this world of continuous change. You’ll reflect on your own business,, what’s working well and where there are opportunities to learn and practice new behaviours and approaches to lead with more ease and impact.
