Why take this Learning Circle?

Sometimes, you just have to sit yourself down and give yourself a good listening-to.

You’ve noticed that every hardship is a growth opportunity. Yay! But every hardship is also… just… hard! How do you make the most of life’s provocations while also treating yourself kindly? How do you celebrate who you are today and invite forward the person you want to be tomorrow?

This Learning Circle will teach the foundations of self-coaching, a simple and powerful practice for engaging with life’s many “growth opportunities,” large and small, at home or in the office.

Self-coaching is the art of intentional, compassionate conversation with yourself, typically conducted in writing. Spacious listening, unwavering support, and penetrating questions are rapid accelerators of growth, whether you receive them from a professional coach or provide them to yourself. Within that conversation with yourself, you’ll also find natural opportunities to integrate the many insights and practices you’ve already developed elsewhere.

If you like to listen, and you like to be listened to, learning to be that supportive presence for yourself in times of need feels really, really good.

What will you learn?

In this circle, you will learn to dialog with yourself, writing as both client and coach. Like a professional coach, you-as-coach will listen, ask questions, and empathize with you-as-client, but not provide answers or advice. By the end of seven sessions, you will be keeping yourself good company on a developmental path through life’s challenges with specific skills such as:

  • Building rapport with yourself as both coach and client
  • Structuring a powerful self-coaching conversation
  • Coaching yourself through tough decisions
  • Compassionately addressing the causes of stress and burnout
  • Coaching the system of your inner parts

Who is this for?

We are all, always, becoming something. This Learning Circle is for you if you want to do your becoming more consciously and compassionately.

If you find it easy to be kind with others, and harder to be equally kind with yourself, you may find this experience particularly transformational. As tempting as it often is to be harsh on ourselves in the pursuit of development, that harshness is unnecessary and counterproductive; this program will teach alternative methods of directing your own growth.

You will have a better time here if you have some previous experience with coaching, therapy, circling, nonviolent communication, or other developmental containers.

While the workshop is not designed specifically for coaches, new and experienced coaches will find practicing on themselves a powerful accelerator of their professional skill and personal development.

Testimonials

“The two-pen technique is brilliant and helps me be a kind, wise guide to myself in and out of the coaching moment.”

Rosi Greenberg, Artist and Facilitator

“I’m feeling a sense of relief having found this idea of self-coaching through Yotam’s brilliance. Yotam… gracefully guides us into our own power and resources that we so often forget we have.”

Nalani Genser, Coach and Talent Development Manager

“Yotam Schachter has created one of the more powerful and useful courses I’ve seen in a while.”

Sara Ness, Chief Instigator at Authentic Revolution

“It was incredibly healing and heart-opening to be in community with other people who share my commitment to self-awareness and development. The calls were wide-ranging and had genuine moments of laughter, tears and tenderness. I deepened my ability to be as kind and compassionate to myself as I am with others.”

Mike Trugman

“Conscious Becoming was fully engaging on multiple levels – head, heart, gut, soul. Yotam has created a well-designed, supportive, and experiential learning program and process that supports individual growth and development and fosters coaching skills and maturation. We had the opportunity to apply what we were learning immediately and to reflect on and process that in a safe, inviting space with Yotam and fellow participants. All of these things made it one of the most impactful learning and development experiences I’ve ever had with regard to coaching. This program also felt very well aligned with my foundational coaching training and strengthened that foundation.

I am better able to hold a safe, supportive, compassionate space for myself… and in turn, do the same for others (family members, friends, coaching and mentor coaching clients). I also have some new conceptual understandings and tools for coaching myself and others. I am less quick to react, more mindful and thoughtful in my responses. Going through this course and practicing with the tools Yotam provided has already had, and will continue to have, positive impacts on my relationship with myself and with others. I’d say that’s priceless.”

Tina Geithner, Ph.D., Presence-Based® Coach, ICF-ACC and Mentor Coach
