Try a Little Tenderness: Mindful Self-Compassion
May 31 to July 12, 2023
Format
The class will be delivered via Zoom and run for six consecutive weeks. Each session will last two hours. Homework will be assigned, and participants will be expected to practice what they learn in class.
Who is this for?
Anyone who wants to learn how to treat themselves with the same understanding and kindness we usually reserve for our closest friends. Many of us speak to ourselves in harsh ways we would never use with someone we cared about.
Studies have shown how Mindful Self-Compassion can tame your inner critic and reduce stress. If you’re one of the 99.9% of people with stress, this is for you.
What will participants learn?
Together, in a supportive community atmosphere, we will explore:
- The neuroscience of self-compassion
- The three core components of self-compassion
- A range of practices aimed at calming your inner critic and promoting inner peace
- Specific practices for difficult emotions, including shame
- Creating a daily self-compassion practice
You will leave with hands-on experience and, if you like, a personal practice tailored to your needs and preferences.
Perhaps you’ve seen Dr. Neff’s TED talk on the subject or you’ve read an article about it. The program is embodied, accessible, trauma-informed, and has a documented track-record of success. You also might want to read more about the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion’s work promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
Why take this workshop?
We live in extraordinarily stressful times. Mindful-self compassion is a powerful tool for remaining centered and building resilience in the face of everything that might be coming our way.
